Crafted from richly veined Rosso Francia marble, this early 20th century pedestal offers a refined nod to French neoclassicism. Its columnar silhouette draws from Greco-Roman traditions, with clean proportions and a presence that feels both architectural and intimate.
Sourced from the historic quarries of St. Nazaire de Ladarez, the deep red marble—known since the Renaissance as Rossi di Francia—was once favored by Louis XIV and famously used in the Palace of Versailles. Here, it takes on a more restrained role, with vivid white veining adding visual contrast to the warm, saturated red.
The pedestal is constructed in two parts: a solid cylindrical column resting on a flat square base. This design gives it both presence and portability, whether used to anchor a sculpture, elevate an object of curiosity, or stand confidently on its own.
Well-suited for traditional, Parisian modern, or contemporary interiors, this piece brings a sense of quiet grandeur without the formality.
CONDITION:
Great original condition. The surface retains its natural polish, with light nicks and faint scratches that blend into the veining. One larger scratch is visible but subtle, easily positioned away from direct view if preferred (see photos).

Scattered Galeries partners with trusted third-party delivery providers to facilitate White Glove Delivery services within the contiguous 48 states. All shipments are handled independently by third-party providers.
The White Glove Delivery Service includes careful transport and in-home placement of furniture. The delivery team will bring the item into the preferred room, unpack it, place it as directed, and remove all packaging materials.
Orders typically ship within 3-6 weeks, though in rare cases, it may take up to 8 weeks to coordinate delivery. A notification will be sent once the item has shipped. This shipping process is designed to accommodate the specialized handling required for vintage and specialty pieces, which is why third-party furniture shippers are used instead of standard carriers like UPS, USPS, or FedEx.
Once the shipper is ready to schedule delivery, they will contact the recipient directly to arrange a date and time frame. Rural deliveries may require additional scheduling time due to limited routes. To prepare for delivery, a clear path should be ensured to the designated room, as the delivery team cannot move or rearrange existing furniture. A signature will be required upon receipt. If the delivery location presents any challenges—such as tight stairways, narrow hallways, or additional obstacles—there may be additional fees.
For details on delivery timelines, potential additional fees, and how to prepare for delivery, please refer to the Shipping Policy or contact support with any questions.
